“Lamentations” is a single movement tone poem based upon the Old Testament’s Book of Lamentations. The noun lament is defined as a passionate expression of grief, while the word lamentation reflects further on the specifically religious nature of the grief. Musically, this work recognizes the distinction of the two and draws influence from traditional religious music.
