The Dragonflies (2024)
Instrumentation: Level 3 Wind Ensemble
Approx. Running Time: 3:15
I love dragonflies; I sit by the creek at our house, and I wait for them to perch on a favorable branch while I ready my camera. They are interesting creatures. At one glance, they remind me of a butterfly, but in a slightly different light, they remind me of a sci-fi-looking armored attack aircraft. Hopefully, I covered both points of view adequately in this piece.
I wanted to see how it felt to write something shorter, staying strictly within the “Level 3” guidelines provided on the handy chart from the “American Band College Music Grading Chart.” the timpani part is active on this piece.
Purchasing the score/parts set grants you all PDF files, 1x coil-bound score (10 by 13) and 1 printed copy (per part) of each booklet printed on 12 by 18 paper.
