Endeavor (2015)
Instrumentation: Level 5 Wind Ensemble
Approx. Running Time: 5:00
Endeavor is an uplifting piece written in a broad Americana style. While composing it, I wanted to practice writing in the language John Williams uses in his Olympics and NBC Nightly News compositions. Interestingly, one of the significant techniques to achieve an American style is pandiatonicism, a technique that famed musician Nadia Boulanger found “repulsive.”
The work is generally tutti but relies upon strong brass section principals. It is perfect for opening or closing a concert, a special celebration, or a commencement. We recorded this piece in the same 3-hour session that we recorded “Boomba.”
Purchasing the score/parts set grants you all PDF files, 1x coil-bound score (11 by 17) and 1 printed copy (per part) of each booklet printed on 12 by 18 paper. For shipments outside of the United States please get in touch with us by email.
